Glebe Street Fair
Glebe Street Fair celebrates its 26th birthday this year. And with Christmas looming, what better place to fill those Christmas hampers with something a bit spesh than the kilometre-long centre of bustling fun on Glebe Point Road?
Come soak up the carnival atmosphere with more than 200 stalls lining the street. There'll be flamenco dancers; bands and roving street performers; a baby animal farm; a milk crate for great debaters; a poets' corner; multimedia installations; and skateboard competitions. Add some arts and crafts, decorate the street a bit, throw in a few rides, buskers and clowns, and you have one hell of a festival.
There will also be an impressive array of international food on offer, with the area's many restaurants taking to the street so the masses can sample their wares. Cuisines include Malaysian, Greek, Japanese, Lebanese, Italian and a ton of Thai. There will also be wine sampling.
Even the doggies are catered for with Glebe Dogs Day Out. A Doggie Olympics will give pooches and their owners the chance to compete in a series of athletic challenges or, for the more fashion-forward hounds, the ‘Doggie Fashionista' events.
The fair is one of Sydney's longest-running annual events, attracting more than 100,000 people every November. It's run on a not-for-profit basis, with proceeds being used by the Glebe Chamber of Commerce to support a variety of local community projects.
