Frog Hollow

Now
The most literal of Surry Hills’ dens of thieves, Frog Hollow was short on light, fresh air, drainage and residents of a strong moral character. In fact, back when razor gangs ran wild and sly grog fuelled Sydney nightlife, Frog Hollow was just about the dampest and most dangerous of the city’s working class shanties.
Future
Living proof that spilled blood breeds new growth, Frog Hollow today shows off the faint scalpel cuts of a $1.3 million facelift: landscaped gardens, a cascading sequence of restored sandstone stairs, stylish lights and a plaque reminding passersby and residents of this once wild place and it’s colourful history and Sydney’s capacity for change.
