Glebe Street Fair
Glebe Point Road goes off in Sydney's biggest counter-culture street fair
By Sarah Norris

"If Newtown is the place where all the students live, Glebe is the place they move to when they grow up," says Paul Angell, president of the Glebe Chamber of Commerce - the folks behind the annual inner west Glebe Fair.
Now in its 25th year, the street party has been a big drawcard for Sydneysiders, attracting numbers upwards of 120,000 people. "It's probably the biggest street fair in Sydney," adds Angell.
The fair is essentially a whopper version of the eclectic Saturday Glebe markets, spilling along a full kilometre of Glebe Point Road. "Glebe is a unique community village that has a carefree, hippy feel. With the fair we have over 200 stalls and that hippy vibe is out in force. It's a warm time of the year too, so people will be dressed down, ready to pop into pubs or just meander along Glebe Point Road. The fair really does match perfectly with the culture of the area."
Beyond stalls there will be entertainment, performances, wine tasting, music, a baby animal farm in Foley Park for the kids, and rides along the street. Share your prose at the Poets' Corner or if you like an argument, the Arguers' Stage will let you work through an issue - out loud. Our four-legged friends are also catered for with the Doggie Olympics, essentially a series of athletic challenges for dog and owner.
Glebe Street Fair is on Sun 16 Nov along Glebe Point Road, 10am-5pm.
