Gold Coast bikinis hit Sydney
The best of Gold Coast fun and fashion is the perfect cure for a case of Sydney Mondayitis

Even if you haven't got the time or the funds to make a trip up to Surfers Paradise next weekend, you can enjoy a little taste of the Queensland summer right in the Sydney CBD on Monday 9 November.
Paula Stafford, who rocked the boat by bringing the bikini to Australian shores in the 1950s, and Leah Madden, swimwear designer for White Sands, will both be on hand at this one-off event at the Very Gold Coast Bikini Bar in Australia Square. They'll be joined by models showing off some of the best and sexiest swimwear around.
We've come a long way from the days when ‘Bikini Cops' used to police the beaches of the Gold Coast, making sure every beachgoer was appropriately attired. Today, the bikini that she helped make popular on Australia's world-famous beaches is an iconic piece (well, two pieces) of summertime fashion.
Last year, close to half a million Sydneysiders enjoyed a holiday up on Queensland's scenic beaches, and every Aussie knows that the Gold Coast is synonymous with surf, sand, sun and summer. From the warm waves to the beaming sunshine, from relaxed days on the beach to the wild nightlife at the clubs, the Gold Coast is the perfect vacation destination.
If this little blurb has whet your appetite for a day at the beach, there's no need to go rushing for a plane ticket - yet. Just make your way down to the pop-up Very Gold Coast Bikini Bar in Australia Square. Here you can scout out the hottest swimwear trends of the season and take advantage of some one-time-only travel deals.
A fashion show will take place at 8am, and the first 20 people to arrive will receive a free bikini from White Sands. The Very Gold Coast Bikini Bar will be open until 4pm, so even if you're not much of an early riser, you can still get in on the action.
Mon 9 Nov 2009, 8am-4pm, Australia Square, 264 George St, Sydney 2000.
