Lip Sync World Championships

Lip Sync World Championships for the interpretive artist in you

By Shannon Langan

Lip Sync World Championships

Milli Vanilli did it with Blame it on the Rain. Britney Spears on Oops, I Did it Again. Ronald McDonald? The Golden Arches theme song. Lip-synchers like these aren't bred; they're born. If you have the mouthing proficiency to follow in these illustrious footsteps, then the inaugural ‘Lip Sync World Champs' is your unfulfilled calling.

Brought to you by Air Guitar Australia, the very same people that brought you the Rock, Paper, Scissors and Thumb Wrestling championships, LSWC will be the first of such challenges where failed karaoke wannabees can finally redeem their dignity. No, your friends were not that drunk that night. They still remember. And talk about it.

Creative freedom is key. If you've got hands; jazz 'em. Feet? Moonwalk those babies. Judging will be strictly based on precise or unique interpretation, showmanship, technique and interpretive dance/movement. Don't bring that half-ass mime crap and think that'll get you far.

Entry is free and you must be at least 18. (You can't fake that, apparently.) Opening rounds start on July 23 at venues all over Australia. Winners of the State & Territory rounds score cold hard cash and a trip for solo performers to the LSWC Grand Final in Darwin on August 24.

Go to Air Guitar Australia for a list of venues to grab an entry form.
