David Roberts fresh from acting in the Square tells you about his favourite bar.
It's just a coincidence the nearest hotel to Belvoir Street Theatre is the Shakespeare. It's also coincidence that Mohr Fish, the best fish 'n‘ chippery in Sydney, is next door to the pub. Put those three together and it makes the Shakey my idea of a great night out.
This is a real pub - heady din, unpretentious and true, with a good menu and Coopers Pale and Sparkling on tap for we homesick Croweaters. It's quiet and warm, with patrons from across the social spectrum.
Food in Mohr, entertainment at Belvoir and pre/during/after-show drinks at the Shakespeare? You've got to be happy with that.
