Model casting: Romance Was Born

It's high noon and 120 models from top agencies Scene, Chic, Priscillas and Chadwicks descend on an old church in Charmers Street, Surry Hills. It's a casting for much-hyped Sydney label Romance Was Born's Rosemount Australian Fashion Week show, and the competition for selection is fierce.

Time Out is there to take photos and observe the selection process as the models, wearing their own clothes, strut their stuff down a makeshift catwalk and present their portfolios to designers Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett. "You want to know that the models are going to be confident," explains Sales, "because our show is different from a normal catwalk show we want them to be a bit more theatrical and with a really strong face."
