#9: Lucy Hill
The Rocks
By Annette Ekin
What do you do? I've been working at Hopscotch Films for a year. I do a bit of everything, I organise meeting schedules for film festivals around the world and this week I've started with film acquisitions so I'm reading lots of scripts.
Were you a film student? Yes, I studied filmmaking at UTS, doing a Media, Arts and Production course.
Where in Sydney do you hail from? At the moment I live in Stanmore but I grew up in North Sydney.
Your colourful troll stockings are a great find My housemate brought them back from Japan for me.
Are you a troll doll enthusiast? I love trolls, I used to collect trolls when I was little but it's not an obsessive thing... Not really. She just saw them and thought of me ‘cause I would wear them and no one else probably would.
What are you up to now? I'm going to see my cousin's show. My cousin is Jessie Hill the fashion designer.
Did you go to other Sydney Fashion Week shows? No just one, I'm not very fashion forward. You can certainly pick the models because they're caked in make-up, which I certainly didn't expect. People keep going up to them and asking if they can get their autographs, even if they don't know who they are.
What do you think of Sydney style? Based on this event, not very varied. I hang out in the inner west so I'm probably slightly biased but most people look like they try to perfect the look of just waking up.
Tell us about your work. Have you read many scripts? I've read three, I should have read more but I haven't really had time because the Cannes Film Festival is coming up.
Do you get to go along? No, I think one day, maybe in six to ten years time but it's a complicated process which I'm glad to be involved in but I've got a long way to go.
What's the best script that you've read so far? A script called Slumdog Millionaire, it's the new Danny Boyle movie. It's a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in India type movie but I won't say anymore otherwise I'll give it away and get in trouble!
