With the summer festival season approaching, it's time to start shaking out the limbs and getting ready for
day-long
dancing sessions. Thankfully, Ministry of Sound and Future
Entertainment have put together the perfect warm-up session for the
beat fans out there. The Global Gathering is taking place at the
Hordern Pavilion, and the line-up is almost too good to believe.
At the head of the bill are the German electronic legends Kraftwerk. Formed in the mid-70s, the Düsseldorf four-piece have influenced nearly every electronic genre since.
Mark Ronson's album Version has gone gold around the world, and he travels the globe
DJing for the rich and beautiful, and he's bringing a 10-piece band to
get the crowd rocking.
The brainchildren of ex-Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Tank Girl creator Jamie Hewlett, the Gorillaz Sound System is the live audio/visual experience, with old-school projectors
surrounding the dancers with the band themselves, while four DJs in
Gorillaz regalia pump out the tunes.
Sasha DJed his way
to fame during the 90s in Britain, mixing all manner of house and Euro
dance into his sets to keep the crowds moving. Utilising more
pseudonyms than a super-villian, Felix Da Housecat has been an
important figure in the US dance scene for decades now, from almost
single-handedly starting electroclash to leading the second wave of
Chicago house producers.
What's more, Above & Beyond,
Fischerspooner, The Orb, The Potbelleez, Dirty South, ATB, LA Riots,
Larry Tee, Sied Van Riel and Kazu Kimura have also been confirmed.
Global Gathering happens on Sun 30 Nov at the Hordern Pavilion, and tickets are on sale now through Ticketek. $125.65.
