Win copies of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

This exquisite, tough and yet eerily light headed film is the third feature from painter Julian Schnabel and one of the most successful adaptations of a book ever committed to film. Jean- Dominique Bauby wrote his beautiful memoir after a massive stroke cut him down in the prime of life.
Almost completely incapacitated, he was able to blink through the alphabet with one eye, dictating much mulled upon prose to a team of dedicated hospital staff. A playboy, Bauby ended up in the gentle hands of the women whose feelings he'd been somewhat rough with at the peak of his gallivanting. And Schnabel is canny enough to use the youthful prettiness of Bauby's assorted therapists to cinematic advantage. After all he's dealing with a central character whose physical condition is far from pretty. Schnabel nevertheless makes a beautiful, surprising film, which captures the strange "locked-in" world Bauby woke up to after his stroke.
