Wow. An old people's home where the people are Vanessa Redgrave and Joss Ackland, and they've not yet succumbed to the scourges of age.
The characters played by Redgrave, Ackland, Brenda Fricker and Imelda Staunton are so irascible, no other retirement home would take them. When Ellie's older sister, who runs the place, leaves over Christmas, Ellie (Hayley Atwell) is left in charge of the four most annoying residents.
Director Byrne has a dream cast but he doesn't manage to squeeze gold from a patchy script, It's a sweet story at heart, but not a great film.
