Art @ Lounge Fundraising Art Auction

A local art auction will raise money in support of same-sex marriage.

If you're in the market for a work by an emerging artist and are keen to support the same-sex marriage cause,  get along to Cafe Lounge in Surry Hills on Sunday 16 November for an art auction with a difference.

Fifteen original contemporary artworks have been donated by local emerging artists and are up for grabs.

"All money raised will support this campaign culminating in Cafe Lounge's Mardi Gras float that will advocate the legalisation of same-sex marriage," says  venue co-owner Cedric Sarret.

"This is not an issue for the gay community alone; it's about promoting inclusiveness and equality for everyone and removing discrimination."

In addition, 500 patrons of the venue have signed a petition in support of same-sex unions that was sent to the Senate Standing Committee.

The bar is an apt venue for such an event as it's a haven for artists, misfits and free thinkers.
"I firmly believe that a union between two people should not discriminate based on gender," Sarret says. "The same rights, responsibilities and recognition should be afforded to same-sex couples."

Visit Art @ Lounge to view the Art@Lounge online catalogue.
The
Art@Lounge auction will take place Sun 16 Nov at 5pm.
