Sleaze pleases

It may have been missing the iconic Dome as a venue, but Saturday night's Sleaze Ball still managed to please with ease by pulling in a healthy crowd of villainous punters and old-school Sleaze fiends alike. The 5,000-plus strong crowd honoured this year's theme, The Villain's Lair, with a fantastic array of costumes ranging from super-villain through to glamour burqa.

The entertainment ran strong throughout the night, with Project Sleazeway showcasing the evening's best-dressed and the Potbelleez working a jam-packed dance floor with their live (and rather extended) midnight set. The evening's greatest triumphs, however, came from the spectacular midnight show (choreographed by the über-talented Aaron Farley) and the one o'clock set by the unstoppable sounds of DJ Sveta that really gave Sleaze its super-spunk.

The impressively decked-out Hordern Pavilion served up a futuristic stage lined with teleportation chambers and Marvel Comics-inspired props, while the dance floor was framed by oversized robo-hunks, digital screens and, at one point, a mid-air battle between super-villains hanging from the ceiling.

Time Out has captured all the capes and Wonder Jocks in our exclusive Sleaze 2008 slide show.
