Hadouken - Music For An Accelerated Culture
Surface Noise/Warner
By Christina Ku
Seeing that "culture" is an entirely subjective and contextual concept, Hadouken's use of the word must in the sense of a "culture" of boredom-ridden, suburban teenagers. Sex, drugs, and techno, baby.
A cross between a juvenile Justice and testosterone-fueled Avril Lavigne, Hadouken is catchy in their own right and rightfully better than the skinny-jean clad, asymmetrical-haircut-sporting crowd who populate their shows (and secretly mock them too).
With plenty of hardcore snarls and synthesiser-laden tunes it's not hard to drown out the lyrics and thereby convince listeners that it's the obscenely loud video game their kid brother's playing.
There's not much lyrical substance or subject variety, but plenty to jerk and throw your arms and torso about to, Hadouken certainly brings their flare and spunk.
