The Sea Thieves - Hiding in the Shade
Inertia
By Andrew P Street
Adelaide couple Naomi Thompson and Zac Colligan have an alpha-indie thing going on in their hometown. Not only to the own and run The Jade Monkey, one of the city's coolest venues, they also make gorgeous music.
Opening track ‘The Catcher's Call' is a pretty fair indication of what you're going to get: a mix of Sparklehorse, Mazzy Star and most of the Saddle Creek roster and, in fact, not a million miles away from their previous incarnation, Eiderdown.
They pick up speed to Machine Translations levels on the mid-paced shuffle ‘The Only Piece Of Mind Worth Remembering', but if you're looking for gentle songs filled with near-whispered lyrics and break-your-heart melodies, you can't let this album pass you by.
