Who are they? Born in early 2007, the band are a new wave-post punk-noise pop-dance rock quartet straight out of Sydney. Three parts man, one part woman, they're lead by singer Katrina Noonbergen, whose vocal prowess summons all things Karen O.

What's their sound? Think The Rapture pashing New Young Pony Club in a German disco and you're on the right track. The band's stellar take on synth rock weaves throbbing basslines and lovably fuzzy guitar. Noonenberg's commanding vocals conjure a deliberately sexy undertone.

What's their story? Since their inception the band have toured alongside Van She, The Matches and Riot In Belgium. They copped some love from Triple J, earning high rotation with their 2007 hit ‘Acrobat'. Additionally, they've done the rounds of Kings Cross frequenting stages at YU, Candy's Apartment and the faithful World Bar.

Am I picking up on a few influences here? Quite possibly. The band cite acts including The Cure and The Klaxons as inspiration for their sounds. Sure, they wear their influences on their sleeve but there's a world of originality to their blistering vocals and frequently massive riffs.

Are you sure this isn't just another ‘it' band? Frankly, yes. One listen to their tight production and killer beats and you'll agree. Haters need only look beyond the waistcoats and cardigans and they'll discover a band independent of amateur contemporaries. They boast a live show to reckon with, and promise an album in the not too distant future.

Why should I care? They're still on the local radar meaning you may have just discovered the perfect Friday night secret. Gigging regularly across town, the band go far beyond cheap thrills and a 3am sing along, delivering perfectly polished sounds to the city at large.

I think I am attracted to this band. Is this normal? Yes. Yes it is. Aside from playing catchy tunes, they can't help being general heart throbs. There's a definite nod to Sydney indie fashion from their textbook white sneakers to the boys perfectly maintained fringes. Akin to Young & Restless, they've got that hot as hell lead singer/ token femme thing going on, too.

Where can I hear them? The ‘Kids are currently on tour with disco darlings The Presets. Catch them at The Roxy, Parramatta this Thu 12 June followed by a show at The Enmore Theatre, Enmore on Friday 13, where they'll release a limited-edition EP. Want it now?  ‘Acrobat' is just a click away on the player below.
