Time Out Live with Washington
The first ever Time Out Live event was a Washington-launching triumph
On Tuesday 20 July Time Out Sydney and Universal Music teamed up for the first ever Time Out Live event, which was also the oh-so-exclusive launch of Washington's debut album I Believe You Liar (which hits stores on Friday 30 July). 200 guests and lucky Time Out readers crammed into the colourful confines of Melt Bar in Kings Cross, which had been done up in appropriately party-themed garb with free pizza and popcorn on offer amid the balloons and festoonery. Speaking of free, the crisp Tiger Beer and delicious Mad Fish Wine flowed freely for the exclusive event, as did the specially-created Washington cocktails – the ginger beer-infused Sunday Best was particularly tasty.
However, the star of the night was Ms Megan Washington. You could hear a pin drop as the diminutive songstress opened with a gorgeous solo rendition of the album's title track before being joined by her band for a spirited set, including favourites 'Clementine', 'Sunday Best', 'How To Tame Lions' and 'Rich Kids'. And as you can see in the above snaps by Time Out's resident lensman Daniel Boud, a truly wonderful time was had by all.
