Sydney's best pizzas - we are counting down the best Pizzas in Sydney...
Best for Traditional pizza, the way it's supposed to be. The only pizzeria given the seal of approval from the Verace Pizza Napoletana - the governing Italian body that makes sure pizzaioli (pizza makers) are doing the right thing by their clientele.
What to order The Pizza Bianchi (pizza sans tomato) topped with gossamer-thin slices of potato, little shreds of rosemary and crusts of sea salt.
Atmosphere Loud! Loud! Loud! It's also plenty of fun, very friendly and great for kids.
Extras They've got plenty of Italian beers on offer as well as
a modest selection of Italian wine and if you can't be bothered dining in, they do take away.
Get a table Turn up early or be prepared to queue. On the upside, they're a two-step from The Gaslight, The Bentley Bar and The Judgie.
Bourke St
Best for An authentic experience down to the stern Italian mamas serving you.
What to order The Margherita. The original pizza (named after Italy's princess Margherita and the ingredients are based on the colours of the Italian flag) and still the best in terms of perfect flavour combinations - the fresh zap of basil, sweet, juicy tomato and slightly salty yet creamy buffalo mozzarella. No self-respecting pizzeria is without one.
Atmosphere Warm, convivial and homey yet still buzzy.
Extras The speck in bocconcini is a must. A little ceramic dish holds cubes of cured pork stabbed with toothpicks. It's then put into the oven with a few balls of bocconcini which melt over the meat. It comes to the table scalding, salty and delicious.
Get a table Turn up on the dot at 6pm or risk a very long wait.
