Best Pizza in Sydney

Best Pizza in Sydney. We are counting down the best Pizzas in Sydney...

Number 2 - Pompei's

Best for Family fun or the prelude to a Bondi bar crawl. They offer colouring-in things inside and have paper tablecloths that are perfect for shorties to scrawl on and tallies to spill wine on.

What to order The Sausage and Broccoli Pizza is a house favourite, with the winning combination of green cruciferous veg and rich, sweet fat from the sausage, all bound together by globs of buffalo mozzarella.

Atmosphere Free, easy, and breezy. Don't expect your wine or water glasses to be topped every two minutes but it's excellent food when it makes it to your table.

Extras They serve the strongest Campari and soda in town in gigantic straight edged tumblers as well as do excellent grissini with San Daniele prosciutto - the serious stuff. Chef George Pompei also makes some of the best gelato this side of Napoli.

Get a table Bookings are recommended but if you decide to risk a walk-in, there are plenty of bars nearby to wait in if you don't get a table straight away.
Bondi Beach

Number 1 - Lucio Pizzeria

Best for A casual, easygoing evening with none of the crazy queuing or attitude of a lot of pizzerias around town. You get friendly service, informed advice on wine and pizza and, best of all, tasty snacks.

What to order The Lucio. Half Margherita with blobs of buffalo mozzarella, tomato and teeny little basil leaves; and half ham and fluffy ricotta calzone (like a pizza only folded in half) - it's the best of both worlds. It's also the only acceptable version of the half-n-half, loathed by most self-respecting pizza makers.

Atmosphere Like a little pizzeria in Naples, it's got a real local feel, down to the outside seating spilling out on to Republic Square.

Extras There's an exceptional panna cotta on offer as well as some quality Italian quaffers and plenty of outdoor seating.

Get a table Turn up early, or if you're waiting for a table, head straight across the square to Universal for one of Alexx Swainston's excellent cocktails.
