Once upon a time, the Commons was the Pond – a Pure Blonde
sponsored pop-up bar. It was a cool bar with nice furniture and a fantastic
outdoor area. The only problem was, of course, the booze on offer. Not
there's anything wrong with Pure Blonde; it's just that a gal wants
choice when it comes to the beer she intends to swill. Of course, that was the
Pond.
Now it's the Commons - same set-up, different drinks. You might try the
crisp, boutique Whale Ale - a Belgian style witbier from Port Stephens brewery
Murrays. Or perhaps you'd be more inclined towards a cheeky Red Angus ‘grain
fed' pilsener. Then again, maybe it's a Cooper's Pale longneck that'll float
your boat. The bar itself is somewhere you'll want to drink. Wander downstairs
to the bar that looks like a 1960s lounge room - it's filled
with retro furniture with the lights turned waaay down low.
Or stay upstairs and bags a seat at the big outdoor bench. It's perfect for parties and you can reserve it. The staff are all super-nice; you're right in the middle of the Surryhurst action; and the bar food on offer is excellent. Settle in for the night, or make it part of a legendary Eastern suburbs bar crawl.
